Maleficent has become the first non-superhero movie to generate $600 million at the worldwide box office so far in 2014.

It joins The Amazing Spider-Man 2Captain America: The Winter Soldier and X-Men: Days of Future Past on the list.

The next three films on the list -- GodzillaThe LEGO Movie and Rio 2 -- have all grossed less than $500 million and are all months old, so it's unlikely any of them will make it to the $600 million mark. Transformers: Age of Extinction is rapidly gaining and by the time the next big blockbuster hits, that film will likely have unseated Godzilla for the #5 slot at the global box office this year.

In 2013, ten movies generated more than $600 million in global ticket sales, including Iron Man 3Man of Steel and Thor: The Dark World.
