Unsurprisingly, Lucasfilm has done their upmost to keep the secrets of Star Wars Episode 8 safely under-wraps. The upcoming sci-fi opera comes off the heels of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, a film that renewed interest in the film franchise. But it looks as if a crack has appeared in the studio’s once impenetrable armor. Not long ago, a leaked scene description hit the Internet that allegedly reveals character details about Kelly Marie Tran’s role in the film.
So, if it wasn’t clear before, there will be spoilers below - like whoa.
According to IWasRaisedToDoOneThing, Tran appears to be playing an “information broker” who auctions their knowledge off to the highest bidder. At some point in the film, a scene was apparently shot of Tran with John Boyega (Finn) where she gives him a tip-off on the First Order. Reports indicate that the pair meet in a “bar that is much fancier than the ones seen in previous films” and that the actress was sporting a “dark green (almost brown) jacket that matches her pants and a low cut black top that has some sort of purple pattern on it, belt, and boots.”
The source has also reported the actress’ character is named Aya, but they did warn fans that Aya might simply be a code name they only used during filming. Whether or not that name will stick, who knows? Fans will only find out after more details on Star Wars Episode 8 are released closer to the film’s premiere.
And, since we’re talking about a boy and girl here, plenty of fans might start speculating whether love is in the stars for the duo. However, that’s apparently not the case. The blog says there’s no chemistry between the characters even though Aya flirts with Finn when they first meet.
Finally, the site’s final spoiler describes the final shot of Tran’s scene with Boyega. The post writes, “At the end of the scene stormtroopers appear and begin shooting at Finn and she leads him out the back door to escape.”
So far, there’s obviously been no word on the validity of these spoilers, so readers should take the previous stories as rumor rather than fact. Ultimately, fans will only be able to verify the stories once the film’s first trailer is released if they’re lucky.
