Marvel might now own May at the box office, but Star Wars has established a firm foothold on December. For the second weekend in a row, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story looks to win the weekend box office.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story took in $15 million on Christmas Eve and is estimated to take in $120 million over the six-day Christmas run of December 21-26. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's total domestic box office is projected to stand at $327 million after Monday.

Finishing second to Star Wars was the newest animated film from Illumination and Universal. Sing brought in a very respectable $7.9 million on Christmas Eve and is projected to finish with $71.5 million over the six-day Christmas run.

Christmas Eve really was all about Star Wars and Sing, as the other big new releases struggled. Despite starring two of the hottest stars in Hollywood, Passengers failed to capitalize on Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence's popularity and only pulled in $2.9 million on Christmas Eve. Assassin's Creed took in $2.2 million, and Why Him? took in $1.8 million to round out the top five.

From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is directed by Gareth Edwards and stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel are producing, with John Knoll and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers.
