At the D23 Expo in Anaheim last week the now expanded Disney family welcomed several pop culture heroes as Disney Legends. Marvel's Stan Lee and Carrie Fisher were among the award winners.

Bob Iger, the Chief Executive Officer of Disney introduced the Jedi, Mark Hamill to the packed house at D23, "For the diehard Star Wars fans, he certainly is revered as Luke Skywalker," Iger said. "The world has held its breathe for his return to that role since that last scene in The Force Awakens. Having seen The Last Jedi and his performance, I can tell you it's worth the wait."

Hamill looked emotional as he started to speak in front of the cheering crowd, pointing at the award statue "As an avid collector of rare Disney memorabilia, it'll be hard to top this one," Hamill said. Quoting baseball great Lou Gehrig he went on to say "Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth... It's true. Now, of course I have to thank George Lucas or I wouldn't be standing here..."

Continuing, expressed how the films wouldn't be the same without all the people that helped make the film. "Beyond George the thousands of people that worked on those films behind the camera, in front of the camera. Would the movies be as impactful without the brilliance of John Williams' music? I don't think. So I was taught in theater school that theater is a composite art and I have learned over the years, how lucky I am to have worked with some of the best there are. I would be remissed if I didn't thank the fans who, their support and affection over the years, is astonishing to me."

Hamill went on to express his honor of being apart of the Disney family and what the parks, and the films meant to him. "To give the company its due, I have been a Disney fan as long as I can remember," Hamill said. Diney provided me a tutorial of how I can make make my dreams come true by lifting the curtain, I hadn't even started grade school when I saw Clarence Nash recording a Donald Duck cartoon... I want that job."

Years later he pretty much would. Not Donald Duck of course - but his iconic voicing of a non-Disney character, The Joker.

Finally he honored his fellow award winner and sadly not present 'super cool space sis Carrie Fisher saying, "The super cool space sis I have in Carrie Francis Fisher. I loved her. And we were like siblings. The good and the bad!"

What a great thrill it was to come back in The Force Awakens. At that time in our lives, we were comfortable with each other," Hamill said. "I know if she would here this morning, she would have flipped me the bird at least twice already."

Iger ended the speech by giving a spoiler for The Last Jedi, saying that is was Hamill's best performance yet.
