Ron Howard Shares New Han Solo BTS Photo

Ron Howard, new director of the Untitled Han Solo Movie, has shared the latest behind the scenes look at the Star Wars spinoff.

The pic sees the A Beautiful Mind and Inferno director at the monitor for what looks to be a crowd shot, but good luck discerning what's what. The image is the latest tease to come from the Han Solo set, which underwent a major shakeup in June when original directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired from the Han Solo prequel.

Howard has been having fun posting non-spoilery glimpses from the set, showing off a behind scenes look at Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo), Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) seemingly in the Millennium Falcon's cockpit, as well as the charred remains of an old speeder.

Information on the Star Wars anthology remains scarce and locked down, but Howard did reveal in July that Warwick Davis, who portrayed the Ewok Wicket in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, has been cast in the film, with Howard directing the actor for the first time in almost thirty years since their work together on Lucasfilm's Willow. Davis probably isn't playing Wicket again, but it's a fun touch to have a Star Wars alum join the production.

The Han Solo set seems to be running smoothly under veteran Howard's direction, a sigh of relief following the rough waters the movie hit when its original directing duo were ousted following a list of production troubles. "You can relax, man, because obviously the Force is with us," said star Woody Harrelson of Howard stepping in as replacement director. "Ron is great. He's awesome. He's such a gentleman and so prepared."

"Ron is such a legend, and he knows exactly what the vision for what he is doing is," said Donald Glover, who plays a young Lando in the film. "[But Phil and Chris] hired us, so you sort of feel like, 'I know I'm not your first choice…' And you worry about that."

Glover also weighed in on the director switch up, revealing the change was initially a bit jarring: "To be honest, I don't know exactly what happened," Glover shared. "I feel like I was the baby in the divorce, or the youngest child. The oldest child is like, 'We know what's happening, but we are keeping you out of it.' And I'm just like, [Glover's voice rises several octaves] 'Was that scene good? How did you feel?'"

The untitled Han Solo movie opens May 25th, 2018.

The Han Solo movie is being produced by Lucasfilm from a screenplay by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the second standalone Star Wars movie following Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in 2016.

Set prior to the events of Han Solo's first appearance in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, the film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo. The film is said to show how Han Solo and Chewbacca first met Lando Calrissian, played by Glover.
