The Last Jedi marks the second installment in an all-new trilogy of Star Wars films, which automatically makes some fans wonder how similar this installment will be
Per Star Wars News Net, one entry in the book reads, "The Resistance won the battle, but not the war, and now the First Order knows where they are hiding. Evacuation will likely be the order of the day, and the Resistance will have to find a new home to set up for the coming struggle. They will look to General Organa for guidance."
One factor in the above excerpt that's worth noting is that the evacuation is referred to in a future tense, implying that the relocation of the Resistance doesn't take place in between The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
We saw that General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) had discovered the location of the Resistance base on D'Qar at the end of The Force Awakens, so The First Order will most likely seek retaliation for the destruction of Starkiller Base.
On the other hand, the prequel trilogy famously skipped over one of the most anticipated eras in Star Wars history, as Attack of the Clones saw the beginning of the Clone War while Revenge of the Sith began with the war coming to a close. It's possible The Last Jedi would avoid recreating a scene like audiences saw when the Rebels were forced to escape Hoth after the Empire discovered their location.
We'll find out more when The Last Jedi opens on December 15.
