Star Wars' Mark Hamill Pens Touching Tribute To Carrie Fisher

Today has been a rough one for millions of Star Wars fans. After being hospitalized shortly before the holidays, Carrie Fisher passed away this morning. The 60-year-old actress was an icon and role model to fans everywhere, and social media has been inundated with touching memorials. Star Wars alums have also come out to pay respects to Fisher, and Mark Hamill is no exception. Not long ago, the actor shared a thoughtful tribute for Fisher on Facebook, and you are going to need a tissue if you want to read it.

"It's never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking. Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all- whether she liked it or not. She was OUR Princess, damn it, & the actress who played her blurred into one gorgeous, fiercely independent & ferociously funny, take-charge woman who took our collective breath away," he wrote.

"Determined & tough, but with a vulnerability that made you root for her & want her to succeed & be happy. She played such a crucial role in my professional & personal life, & both would have been far emptier without her. I am grateful for the laughter, the wisdom, the kindness & even the bratty, self-indulgent crap my beloved space-twin gave me through the years. Thanks Carrie. I love you, mh."

Hamill is not the only other Star Wars legend to share their thoughts on the actress' tragic death. Earlier today, Harrison Ford released a statement about the news.

"Carrie was one-of-a-kind…brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless," Ford said in a statement to TheWrap. "She lived her life, bravely…My thoughts are with her daughter Billie, her Mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her."

Another female lead from the franchise has also taken time to honor Fisher and her legacy. Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the new Star Wars trilogy, released a statement through Entertainment Weekly. "Devastated at this monumental loss," Ridley wrote. "How lucky we all are to have known her, and how awful that we have to say goodbye."

For now, the Star Wars community is left reeling by today's unimaginable news. All of our thoughts and best-wishes are with Fisher's loved ones and friends during this trying time. Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher.
