Disney and Lucasfilm are teaming up with People Magazine and Twitter for a special live streamed event on Friday promoting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The event will take place Friday, December 2 at 10 a.m. PST, a press release announced, and will feature never-before-seen content from the film plus a Q&A with director Gareth Edwards and cast from the film.

Director Gareth Edwards, Lucasfilm President and Producer Kathleen Kennedy, and cast members including Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed will all be present for the Q&A hosted by People Magazine. Fans tweeting with #AskRogueOne can ask their own questions of the cast and crew.

"People come to Twitter to see what's happening in the entertainment world, and the conversation about movies, especially Star Wars, is constant on Twitter," said Anthony Noto, COO at Twitter in the press release. "Our collaboration with Disney and People will give fans fresh and exciting live Star Wars content that they can view and Tweet about all on the same platform."

"Disney and Lucasfilm are always seeking out innovative ways to tell great stories and engage with fans around the world," said Ricky Strauss, President, Marketing, The Walt Disney Studios. "We're thrilled to join forces with Twitter and People to create this can't-miss Rogue One event that gives Star Wars fans a behind-the-scenes peek at one of the most talked-about movies of the year."

"People is thrilled to participate in the celebration of the latest release in the iconic Star Wars franchise," says Jess Cagle, Editor in Chief, People. "We have been covering Star Wars since the very first film hit theaters in 1977; our audience can't get enough of it."

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters December 16, 2016. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue Onetells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet." Tickets are on sale now.
