With The Walking Dead gearing up for a high velocity return in less than two weeks, some fans may want to get a jump on what to expect from the AMC series. To do that, they can turn to Robert Kirkman's comics.
The Walking Dead has been staying true to its source material through Season 7 more than any season before it. While some characters have swapped roles and others have been written out, the grand scheme and iconic moments have all been realized. Ending at a moment equivalent to issue #111, The Walking Dead is sure to carryout the events beyond the issue but also a few before it, as well.
If you're looking to get a jump on The Walking Dead's Season 7B, issue #108 of the book written by Kirkman and drawn by Charlie Adlard is a crucial place to start. Issue #108 see King Ezekiel's introduction. By comparison, the introduction was slightly different in the comics as opposed to television. We will, however, see a variation of the introduction when The Walking Dead returns as Rick is escorted to the Kingdom by the Hilltop's Paul "Jesus" Rovia.
From issue #108, you will read a few enjoyable moments which have already been realized on television as you breeze through to issue #115 when the All Out War story line begins. Though much of the war will be left on the table for Season 8 of The Walking Dead, the smoke will rise over the first battles through the next episodes.
However, before the war begins, the march to war will see betrayals and epic moments of Rick's group rising up to rally the communities surrounding Alexandria. Moments of genuine terror and wondering, "How is Rick going to get out of this?" are peppered throughout.
In short: read The Walking Dead issue #108 through issue #120 to get a good perspective on what to expect from the eight remaining episodes of Season 7.
The official synopsis for the rest of The Walking Dead Season 7 reads...
Rick's group will find out yet again that the world isn't what they thought it was. It's much bigger than anything they've seen so far. While they have a singular purpose - to defeat Negan - it won't come easy. More importantly, victory will require more than Alexandria. They need the numbers of the Kingdom and the Hilltop, but, similar to how Rick felt, Ezekiel (Khary Payton) and Gregory (Xander Berkeley) do not want bloodshed. To convince them otherwise will take more than speeches. The lengths Rick and the group will have to go to in order to find weapons, food and new fighters is nothing short of remarkable.
We'll meet new survivors in incredible places. We'll see Rick and the group tested in ways we've never seen before. We'll see treachery from people we trust. Rick is confident as he will see his group and many others band together with the common goal of taking down Negan. But no amount of planning will prepare the group for all-out war with Negan and his army.
