The Walking Dead's midseason 7 premiere hauled in impressive numbers in one region of the country (the only to release its numbers, so far).
According to the Orlando Sentinel, 200,570 people tuned into AMC for the return of its hit zombie drama. The total number is less than the 311,347 which had The Grammy Awards on their televisions but in the key 18-49 demo, The Walking Dead took home the win over The Grammy's.
The official nationwide ratings for The Walking Dead have not yet been released.
For The Walking Dead's Season 7 premiere on October 23, 2017, the AMC series had just over 241,000 viewers. In total, the episode hauled in 17 million viewers nationwide, making it the second most-watched episode of the series. To save you the math, if the percentage of people who tuned into this episode versus the premiere in Central Florida translates, we can expect about 14 million people to have watched the midseason premiere. If this turns out to be the case, Rock in the Road would be the second most-watched episode of Season 7.
When official numbers for Episode 7x09 are released, we will have them for you at ComicBook.com.
Rock in the Road was very well received among critics. The episode packed each of the core characters into its slightly extended run time, eliminating the common criticism of following only one small group of characters on a weekly basis. Furthermore, Rick was not being bullied and oppressed by Negan throughout its runtime. Instead, he was rallying communities in his first effort to take down the Saviors.
