WARNING: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead comics and the most recent episode of the TV series!
Heading into this week's episode of The Walking Dead, fans have learned that they will be treated to a reunion with long-lost characters Tara and Heath.
The pair went on a supply run just before the events of the season six finale took place, and they haven't been heard from since. Negan has turned everyone's world upside down, but Tara and Heath have been off on their own.
Knowing that the episode would feature the two characters, fans have been concerened that most of the clips that AMC has featured didn't show a whole lot of Heath. Tara has been seen multiple times, but not her partner.
Couple that with the fact that Corey Hawkins, who portrays Heath, is starring in the upcoming 24 reboot, folks are starting to wonder if the character will die soon.
When in doubt, see what happened in the comics.
Sure, the books aren't always an accurate representation of the show's events. For example, Tara was completely absent from the comics. That being said, the show has stayed fairly similar to the comics this season.
So, do the comics dictate a death for Heath in the near future?
No, not at all.
In the books, Heath dates Denise for a long period of time. After she is killed, long after the show's version, he has a tough time. Eventually, after one or two life-scares, he ends up becoming an honored guard for Rick and the communities. He may not appear in every issue, but Heath is one of the main guardians of Alexandria, Hilltop, and The Kingdom.
If the source material is any indication, Heath will be around for quite a while. However, the fact that Tara and Denise developed a relationship instead would indicate that she will take Heath's place on the show.
Either way, both characters are in some major trouble in The Walking Dead's next episode, 'Swear'.
