Carol's avid fans were relieved to see the character is healing from her physical wounds in The Walking Dead's season 7 trailer. Mentally, though, she may continue her struggles to grasp on to who she is and who she wants to be.

It's no secret that a huge portion of the fan base hopes to see Carol find love with Daryl and while the character is recovering, someone like Daryl could be a handy pillar of support.

Carol's choices surprised fans before her apparent loss of a will to live when she sparked a sudden romance with Tobin at Alexandria. The true fans supported her happiness but the Season 6 finale showed us that a relationship isn't necessarily what Carol needs. As she sought out a form of normalcy in Alexandria, she realized it may be harder to find that she originally thought.

So, going into Season 7, will Carol bounce back and look for love once more? We asked Carol actress Melissa McBride during an exclusive interview.

"This is a different season," McBride says of Carol's relationship status. "She's definitely got some healing to do in her mind and where she wants to be on this earth, or she wants to stick around or what."

Ah, the old I-have-to-work-on-myself trick, huh, Carol?

"As the world is expanding, it's still closing in at the same time in a very weird way, but who knows," McBride says. "I think she's just got to get her mind right before she can even entertain any sort of relationship. I think it's just difficult for her to have a relationship of any kind. Where we left off, if you care for somebody, you're going to have to kill for them, and again, she's just not sure she's in that place."

Carol will have plenty on her plate as it is when we see her again. With Ezekiel set to debut in the third episode of the season, Carol will not only meet the leader of the Kingdom but also his pet tiger, Shiva.

That said, while everyone is wondering if Carol's relationship with Tobin will find new life or she'll ever make a move on Daryl Dixon, someone will have to fill Michonne's void with Ezekiel in the relationship the two formed in The Walking Dead comics. Perhaps Carol will bounce back from the her place of mental isolation, a similar state of mind the comic book Michonne was in at the time, and open up to Ezekiel.
