All cliffhangers aside, one of the common gripes with Negan's introduction to The Walking Dead TV series was the fact that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was sporting a beard. In the comics, Negan is a clean shaved menace wielding Lucille around and manipulating Alexandria. However, when he stepped out of the RV in the closing moments of season 6, he hadn't seen a razor in days and was ready to crack skulls, mustache and all.

The character appears to have kept his beard for season 7 according to the Comic Con trailer but a new photo of Morgan near the Senoia, Georgia set of The Walking Dead suggests he may be adopting the comic book look of Negan around the time of the midseason finale. A fan ran into Morgan and his long time friend and now co-star Norman Reedus and grabbed a picture with between the two. What's grabbing all the attention, though, is Morgan's lack of facial hair.

Speaking to Morgan at Comic Con, the actor told ComicBook.com that The Walking Dead was filming the seventh episode at the time. The episodes typically take about 8 days to shoot, so it's entirely possible that the series reached the midseason finale and Negan either altered his look to appear more like comic book Negan or Morgan just shaved his beard while he had a few days off.

One thing that this shouldn't indicate for fans is Negan's death. Another thing Morgan told ComicBook.com was that he is ready for "the long haul" with this series and comic fans know, "long" is an understatement for his character.

The Walking Dead will return for its seventh season October 23 at 9 PM ET on AMC. For complete coverage, insider info, and more all season long, be sure to follow me on Twitter @BrandonDavisBD and check out The Walking Dead on ComicBook.com on Facebook.
