The title and synopsis of The Walking Dead's Season 8 premiere have been revealed with less than a month until it airs.

The Walking Dead Episode 8x01 will be titled, "Mercy." The official synopsis for Mercy reads, "Rick and his group, along with the Kingdom and Hilltop, have banded together to bring the fight to Negan and the Saviors."

As ComicBook.com earlier reported, the episode which also serves as the 100th overall for the AMC series will have a somewhat extended runtime. Beginning at 9 pm ET, Mercy will broadcast until 10:07 pm ET with a two-hour Talking Dead special featuring The Walking Dead's star-studded cast following the episode live from the Greek Theater in Los Angeles.

The episode synopsis is in line with the full Season 8 synopsis. "This season, Rick brings 'All Out War' to Negan and his forces," a portion of the Season 8 synopsis reads. "The Saviors are larger, better-equipped, and ruthless -- but Rick and the unified communities are fighting for the promise of a brighter future. The battle lines are drawn as they launch into a kinetic, action-packed offensive."

Executive producer Greg Nicotero directs the Season 8 premiere of The Walking Dead.

The Walking Dead's sibling series Fear the Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 pm ET on AMC. The Walking Dead will return for its eighth season on October 22, 2017. The Season 8 premiere will mark 100 episodes overall for the popular AMC series. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
