Rick and Morty's third season will be coming to a close tonight, and we may have just gotten a look at what the season finale will look like.
A new post on Rick and Morty's Facebook page includes a new still of the show's titular character, in a very Minecraft-like setting. You can check it out below.
It's unknown how exactly the episode will enter this Minecraft-like realm, especially with the episode's plot centering around a fued between Rick and the President of the United States. But as Rick and Morty fans know, anything is certainly possible.
"I don't want to poison the well but the finale is a great episode that we finale-ified when we realized we weren't going to be able to make 14," Co-creator Dan Harmon said in a recent interview. "It's Rick in a conflict with the president of the United States. Keith David returns to reprise his role. And that's the main story of that episode, Rick vs. the United States."
The episode will serve as a conclusion to the much-anticipated third season, which debuted on April 1st. While the season was initially slated to run for 14 episodes, it was eventually trimmed down to ten, something that Harmon has ultimately made peace with.
"I'm still learning how to do the show efficiently while catering to the perfectionist in all of us," Harmon explained. "I would like to think I've learned enough from my mistakes in season 3 that we could definitely do 14 now, but then I have to say, 'Yeah but you're the guy who says we can do 14 who turned out to be wrong so we're not listening to you now.'"
If you'd like to tune in to Rick and Morty's season finale, there are quite a few ways to do so. Adult Swim recently announced that it will be streaming the episode for free via its website.
The Rick and Morty season finale will begin airing live at 11:30 pm ET.
