AMC has released the first look at Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics, a six-part, one-hour documentary series that will explore the stories, people and events that transformed the world of comic books.

The brand-new documentary series will feature and be executive-produced by Kirkman — creator of The Walking Dead comic books, the basis for hit AMC series The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead — and will delve into the world of Marvel and DC Comics, examining the "untold origin stories" of Spider-Man, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Black Panther, Superman, Wonder Woman and more.

The series will feature interviews with legendary Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee (co-creator, Spider-Man, The Avengers), Patty Jenkins (director, Wonder Woman), Kevin Smith (director, The CW's Supergirl and The Flash), J.K. Simmons (actor, Spider-Man, Justice League), Lynda Carter (actor, 1975's Wonder Woman), Famke Janssen (actor, X-Men), Michelle Rodriguez (actor, The Fate of the Furious) and Todd McFarlane (creator, Spawn) among others.

"My love for the world of comics knows no bounds," Kirkman said in a statement. "It's a universe of amazing stories that has been driving pop culture as a whole for decades. Being able to explore the nooks and crannies of this world has allowed me to find out secrets even I didn't know. It's been a pleasure putting this series together, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be able to finally share it with the world."

Part of AMC's Visionaries documentary series, Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics will premiere as a two-night event starting on Sunday, November 12 at 11/10c, followed by a second episode on Monday, November 13 at 10/9c, in the show's regular time slot.
