Pizza Hut has just unveiled its plan for a new autonomous pizza delivery truck that will deliver pizzas to consumers, which is expected to debut in 2020. While on the one hand people are excited to see this step toward the sort of future we've seen in so many sci-fi movies, there's also a bit of funny bad timing that's causing some "controversy" over this announcement. Anyone who watched the most recent season of Netflix's Black Mirror already knows: dark things will come from Pizza Hut's bold advancement.

In the Black Mirror season 4 episode "Crocodile", a young woman named Mia murders an old friend in a heated moment, while reuniting with him in a posh hotel. That act of murder occurs at the very same moment that a young man outside the hotel is struck down in the road by (you guessed it)... an automated pizza delivery truck! When an insurance agent comes to investigate the robotic pizza truck accident, it sets off a chain of terrible events that puts her on a violent collision course with Mia.

"Crocodile" (directed by The Road's John Hillcoat) has been one of the darkest, most bleak episodes of Black Mirror yet. Fans were already buzzing about its dark twists and (ironic? Absurd?) ending; naturally, the news that an element of that episode is about to become part of real life, has triggered them all over again.
