It looks like Starz has cast yet another actor in American Gods, an upcoming series based on Neil Gaiman's award-winning book. Actor Corbin Bernsen has been tapped to play Vulcan in the adaptation.

In American Gods, Vulcan is an ally of Mr. Wednesday/Odin. The old god, however, finds himself at odds with Mr. Wednesday when the latter decides to challenge the world's new pantheon of gods. Vulcan's powers have helped him secure a more stable position in the modern world than that of his friends, leaving him conflicted about which pantheon he should support. After all, Vulcan is the Roman equivalent of Haphaestus, the god of fire and metalwork. Known for his unmatched tinkering skills, Vulcan would be revered by any materialistic society who treasures anything from houses to weapons.

So, fans know for sure now that Vulcan will be making an appearance in American Gods. Whether the character shows up in a one-off scene or stands as a returning role, fans are looking forward to seeing Vulcan clash with Mr. Wednesday once the series premieres.

If you're unfamiliar with American Gods, the show is based off Neil Gaiman's eponymous novel. The series will follow Shadow Moon, an ex-con, as he becomes involved in a brewing battle between the world's new and old gods. Traditional gods like Mr. Wednesday find themselves growing weaker as 'millennial' gods become stronger by honoring things like money, media, and more. Fed up, the old gods decide to take on the new deities in a bid to win back believers.

Plans to adapt Gaiman's work have been in development for years now, but the series was only confirmed in July 2014. Starz announced they were working on the show alongside Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. The show is set to air in early 2017, and Starz has said they're more than thrilled Gaiman has been involved with the show's production.

Since the show got greenlit, fans have grown excited about the show's extensive casting announcements. So far, American Gods will feature Ricky Whittle (Shadow Moon), Ian McShane (Mr. Wednesday), Emily Browning (Laura Moon), Kristen Chenoweth (Easter), and more.

And, now, Corbin Bernsen stands as the show's newest cast member. The California native has an extensive television career, but he is best-known for playing Henry Spencer in Psych.

American Gods is set to hit Starz sometime early next year.
