José Fernández's teammates and fans were given the opportunity to say goodbye to him during an emotional memorial ceremony and procession, which took place at the Marlins Park.
The entire team walked alongside his hearse through the streets of Miami as the city that loved him chanted "Jose!"
When they reached the park the team paused and encircled the casket, taking a silent moment to say goodbye.
The pitcher was killed in a boat crash early Sunday morning. Two of his friends were also killed in the accident.
At the public ceremony, his family placed a Marlins jersey and his All-Star Game jersey over the casket.
They will hold a private funeral for the young pitcher on Thursday, according to WPLG.
