5 Questions Raised From The Suicide Squad Trailer

07/13/2015 05:51 pm EDT

Monday evening, Warner Bros. released the first Suicide Squad trailer that was first shown exclusively at last weekend's San Diego Comic-Con. Warner's wasn't too thrilled about the "leaked" version and decided to release the official trailer and give fans a proper look at the upcoming film.

This is a solid trailer that doesn't feed too much information to fans, but just enough to hook them to get them to come back for more. There's a few questions raised from the trailer though and see if you have any good ideas on what's going on.

5. Is Deadshot fighting for more than a shot at redemption?

While most of the villains on the team are pure chaotic evil, Deadshot it seems is a bit of a family man. We're not sure of the relationship he has the with the young girl he's seen with twice in the trailer, but it could be Lawton's daughter, Zoe, who was introduced back in 2005. It could be that Deadshot is given a more human nature in comparison to his psychotic cronies in the film, but nothing is confirmed just yet.

4. How many origins are we going to see?

There are a lot of people on this team and that's not including the cinematic return of the Joker. Most of these characters are making their film debut and one film might not be able to cover everybody's origin properly. There's Katana, Croc, Boomerang...who are we really going to learn about and get behind, and who is going to get the short end of the stick and not become fully fleshed out?

3. Are there time jumps?

There are some moments in the trailer that hint of Joker's past with Harley Quinn, and sheds some light on their relationship. She's also shown with him in car chase sequence seemingly enjoying herself as her and Joker take Batman for a ride. So are there flashbacks or do we see things progress as they happen? Is this Joker torturing Dr. Quinzel, pushing her into insanity?

2. What is the Joker up this time?

(Photo: Warner Bros, DC Entertainment)

So the when the first official picture of Jared Leto's Joker was revealed, the tattoos caught fans everywhere off guard. It was a mild rumor that they were not the final product, but with the trailer, yes the tattoos are confirmed but how did they get there? Is this part of Harley and Joker's relationship? Going back to the origins part, are we going to see how this Joker ties into the rest of the newly formed DC Cinematic Universe as well? He's obviously free from prison so what is the Clown Prince of Crime up to this time around? It seems there's so many story beats to hit one movie, which brings up to...

1. Why is Harley going after the Joker?

So here's something to consider: What is the relationship between Joker and Harley at this point? Are they jaded lovers? Is it pure revenge? It is all a ploy? What happened between Harley and Joker that made her sign up for this kind of mission? Rumor has it that it's something to do with Robin and that the Suicide Squad film as a whole is Harley's story for redemption.

Honorable Mention: What in the world is the Orb doing there?

So readers, what's going on through your minds as you watch the trailer? What are some questions you have?
