Since its inception 2007, Assassin's Creed has become one of the biggest franchises in the videogame industry. The Assassin's Creed story is now preparing to branch out into cinema with Michael Fassbender's Assassin's Creed movie, making this an opportuntune moment to look back on the series' history so far.

Assassin's Creed: The Complete Visual History takes advantage of that opportunity, offering a retrospective account of the series' growth, as told by those who have worked on the series for Ubisoft. Written by Matthew Miller, the hardcover coffee table book is structured like an alternate world history.

Using interviews with Assassin's Creed artists and developers, the book begins in the Middle Ages of the original Assassin's Creed and tells the series history right up to the Industrial Revolution of Assassin's Creed Syndicate, with chapters for each game in between. The in-depth publication even touches on Assassin's Creed'sforays into other media, such as comics and short films.

Publisher Insight Editions sent ComicBook.com some sample spreads and a copy of the finished book to share with our readers. Take a look in the gallery below.
