Final Fantasy XII Remake Reportedly In The Works
08/02/2015 06:13 pm EDT
Not content with merely doing sequels set in the same world, it seems Final Fantasy XII -- currently not playable on current-gen consoles -- is getting an HD "remake."
The news comes via a Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert in Pittsburgh Saturday night, where Kotaku reports that composer Arnie Roth announced it to fans. Hitoshi Sakimoto, who scored Final Fantasy XII, was also in attendance.
Here's a video of the announcement(ish).
The site notes that it seems likely "remake" is too strong, and that it could simply be a remaster of the game.
That seems particularly likely given that it was announced in an off-the-cuff and unofficial way by a composer -- but the success of Final Fantasy X HD on PS3, Vita, and PS4 casts doubt on the idea.
Updates coming as they're available.
