Game Of Thrones: Iain Glen Hints At His Character’s Uncertain Fate

If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, then you have seen a lot of death go down. The HBO drama is notorious for killing darlings without any notice - and that is only the start. Game of Thrones has mercilessly taken down dozens of characters, and fans have tearfully bid farewell to some major players over the year. With the series now entering its final seasons, there are only a handful of characters who have managed to avoid the chopping block thus far, but all life ends in death. And, for one character, it looks like the reaper could be around the corner.

Recently, Iain Glen sat down for an interview with Stuff Co. to talk about his work on Jack Taylor. It was there that actor talked a bit about his well-known role as Ser Jorah Mormount on Game of Thrones, and Glen said his character was certainly expendable.

"I've always enjoyed playing Jorah. It's been a role that's been good to me so far," he said.

"There's quite a high death count in Game Of Thrones and they don't blanch at removing favorite characters. They just get rid of them in a brutal way. My end may well be close but so far I'm doing OK."

So far, there is no word on whether Jorah will leave the next season of Game of Thrones in a grave, but fans would not be shocked to see him go. Saddened? Yes, but that dreaded emotion has never stayed the show from using death as a major motivator.

Way back in the show's fifth season, Jorah was inflicted with a lethal disease known as Greyscale which has no cure. While the sickness can be halted as seen with Princess Shireen, the condition is a fatal one. Perhaps Jorah had hoped love could cure the unsightly disease with love, but the former knight was coldly rejected by Dany after he confessed his feelings to her.

In the end, Dany simply told Jorah to cure himself and then return. It wouldn't be surprising to see the knight somehow get rid of his Greyscale before returning to Dany. The progression would give fans a false sense of security, but Jorah is too noble to not fall in battle when Dany, Jon Snow, and Cersei wage war against each other. The death would surely light a fire under Dany and her cause. And, well, you know how the saying goes: hell hath no fury like a Khaleesi's scorn.

Game of Thrones' penultimate season begins July 16.
