Never underestimate the power of squirrels! During an impromptu question and answer session on his facebook page, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn expressed an interest in making a Squirrel Girl movie.
Today, James Gunn was asked, "What do you think of the character Squirrel Girl and do you think she could get her own show/cartoon/movie?" Gunn replied, "I love her so much. I'd love to do a Squirrel Girl movie."
Yup, Gunn has interest in Marvel's Doreen Green, aka Squirrel Girl. Makes sense, if the guy can make a talking plant and raccoon work I think he can handle a girl that communicates with squirrels.
She doesn't just speak Squirrelese. She also has super-strength, prehensile tail, razor sharp claws, retractable knuckle spikes and the ability to leap several stories. Many people laugh her off, but keep in mind she has defeated some serious Marvel villains, like Dr. Doom, MODOK, Terrax, Bi-Beast and Deadpool. She even took down Thanos, but that was a special 2005 holiday issue, GL X-MAS #1.
Although, a Squirrel Girl appearance might work better in the Netflix universe as she was at one time a nanny for Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.
Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 will arrive in theaters May 5, 2017.
