While the character has become divisive in recent years, I still count myself as an enormous Cyclops fan. Recently I had the pleasure of adding Kotobukiya's newest ARTFX+ recreation of the Uncanny X-Man to my shelf and thought I'd run through some of the highs and lows.

Price matters in this day and age and the ARTFX+ line always seems to hover around $55 to $65 dollars. The statues come in at right under 8' tall, including the black magnetic base. The price point is pretty reasonable since the sculpt and paint applications are so well done. The only real points of issue are with the paint lines around the mask and face. A few spots here and there it looks like the color bled over just a hair. Minor squabbles, but worth mentioning.

The pose is a strong and confident stance that you can place pretty much opposite any other character and it will still fit in. The costume is loathed by some, but frankly, it is one of my favorite looks for the character, even though I completely understand he can't see through that mask. I still like the overall look, and Koto is great about making the lines of bright red pop out from all the dark red that encompasses the costume.

My only other nitpick would be the black magnetic base. It is clean and simple, which is all well and good, but I always prefer something other than a blank canvas when it comes to bases. Since he's part of a set, something interlocking would have been preferable. The magnetic feet and base keep the statue planted for the most part, but I have knocked it down a few times with relatively little effort, so make sure to keep it out of harms reach.

Overall the statue is a nice effort from the Kotobukya team, and you can order the statue at their official site.
