Sega's 7th Dragon III Code: VFD Launches On July 12th

I wouldn't blame you for not knowing what Sega's upcoming 7th Dragon III Code: VFD is about, other than that it involves Dragons in some way.

The good news is you were right, it does involve Dragons, and it's actually shaping up to be a pretty cool turn based RPG for the Nintendo 3DS. The game bounces you and your team between three time periods, and tasks you with saving the world from the 7th True Dragon. You'll not only take on a variety of unique dragons, but you'll also be rescuing survivors you find along the way, and building up your base to help the community at large. Throughout the game, you'll gain Dz, which will allow you to build evacuation wards and welfare facilities for fellow survivors, and even a Cat Cafe, where, you guessed it, you get to recuperate alongside a copious amount of cats that you rescue while you're out in the world.

You pretty much had me at Cat Cafe, but customization plays a big part as well. The game allows you to take three teams with three members each into battle, and you can customize those characters with up to 96 different appearance options, and up to eight different classes.

The art design is pretty slick, though it does suffer from the dreaded "why did they even bother wearing armor" philosophy of armor design occasionally. Still, the classes look fun, and if you are in need of a new RPG, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD might be something worth looking into when it launches on July 12th.
