Albert Einstein To Be Featured In Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2

How would history have turned out differently if not for Albert Einstein?

It seems that's one of the questions being explored this season on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, as TVLine suggests the famed scientist will appear in a Season Two episode.

The crew of the Waverider will "cross paths with a circa-1942 Albert Einstein...but they're disillusioned to discover that the legendary scientist is a snarky, brusque skirt-chaser," the report claims. "Needless to say, he proves to be quite a handful when they attempt to save his life."

The snark is not particularly surprising, when you consider how many wry and/or sarcastic remarks have been attributed, accurately or not, to Einstein over the years. Skirt-chasing, meanwhile, is pretty in line with his documented character, although years of reports that he was distant to his wife and children have been called into question by recently-discovered correspondence that suggested he was open about his affairs and had a warmer family life than previously understood.

The idea of a scientific genius being brusque or antisocial is hardly a new one (hello, Mr. Fantastic!), although in the world of the "Berlantiverse," we've mostly seen scientific breakthroughs come from people who are pretty warm and cuddly.

Of course, above and beyond all of this, it's worth noting that the involvement of Einstein's 1942 self, coupled with the World War II setting of much of the Season One finale, might suggest that the Justice Society of America -- teased at the end of Season One and set to appear in Season Two -- may well be the World War II version of the team, rather than the Earth-2 version.

That makes a kind of sense: during the run-up to Legends of Tomorrow's first season, showrunners indicated that time was their purview, and it was unlikely that they would venture out into the multiverse, since that's really The Flash's area.
