Willem Dafoe Wraps Filming On 'Aquaman', Sings The Praises Of James Wan

Another day, another positive report coming from the Aquaman set on Australia's Gold Coast. This week, the good news comes via Willem Dafoe, who plays Nudis Vulko, Atlantis' scientific advisor.

Dafoe revealed that he has wrapped his part on Aquaman, which took him five months to film. Before heading back to work on his other movie, The Florida Project, Dafoe talked to The Playlist about Aquaman, and how director James Wan handled the set.

"James Wan's great. He's great," Dafoe said. "I mean, because of the underwater [aspect of the movie] it's very complicated technically. But you see it in his films, he's very detail-oriented. He figures the cut. He's very precise. He's a real gifted filmmaker."

Dafoe went on to talk about his experience actually filming the movie, and he noted that it's more physical than you might think. Even though his character is more brains than brawn, staying out of the action most of the time, he's still underwater for the entire film. For an actor, that's a bit of a challenge.

"I love doing physical things and I was on a wire a lot of the time or on different devices because we're floating and I love doing that stuff," the two-time Oscar nominee explained. "I was swimming through the air. This kind of stuff is great for me."

James Wan's Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa, is set to hit theaters on December 21, 2018.
