Dan DiDio Teases Secret Squirrel Comic With Howard Porter Art

Famed JLA artist Howard Porter may be taking on another Hanna Barbera property soon: DC honcho Dan DiDio shared an image to Facebook that appears to be Porter's take on the animated super-spy Secret Squirrel.

"Some things we work on are more Secret than others," DiDio teased, sharing the image seen below.

When a fan asked, "Is that Porter?" DiDio responded that it "sure is."

He also answered a comics professional (Final Crisis artist JG Jones) who asked whether Secret Squirrel was unnaturally large or whether he just had a tiny gun.

("Tiny gun, big attitude.")

Secret Squirrel is a lead on The Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show, which debuted in 1965. He was given his own show in 1966, but was reunited with Atom Ant for one more season in 1967.

Secret Squirrel segments were a parody of the spy genre, and most of the shorts parodied elements of the James Bond films. Secret Squirrel was also known as "Agent 000". In 1993, thirteen new Secret Squirrel cartoons appeared in-between the 2 Stupid Dogs episodes, with the updated title Super Secret Secret Squirrel and a new cast.

Porter has recently drawn runs on Justice League 3001 and Scooby Apocalypse.

There was no indication as to when the book might debut or even when it might be officially announced, although the latter seems likely to happen at or around next week's Comic Con International: San Diego.

For his part, X-Men: Noir artist Denis Calero offered to draw El Kabong -- so hopefully somebody is working on a script for that classic-in-the-making, like...now.
