Snagglepuss will be one of four new series based on Hanna-Barbera characters, including Howard Chaykin's Ruff and Reddy, The Jetsons from Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner with art by Pier Brito, and Top Cat from Dan DiDio and Phil Winslade.

Each of the four will be previewed in one of four annuals released on March 29, each of which will team a classic Hanna-Barbera property up with a DC superhero.

Mark Russell recently told HiLoBrow that his concept for Snagglepuss is as a Southern gothic playwright working with an ensemble cast of cultural figures, exploring an intensely creative time in the New York City theater scene of the 1950s.

In Russell's eight-page story, set to debut in the Banana Splits/Suicide Squad team-up, Snagglepuss faces the House Committee on Un-American Activities. The story, which will launch into Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles, was written by writer Mark Russell with art by Howard Porter, Steve Buccellato (colors) and lettering by Dave Sharpe.

You can check out the solicitation text for March's annual below.

"Suicide Splits" pairs up Saturday morning's animal rock band with Amanda Waller's Task Force X, the dirtiest players in the game! Mistaken for metahumans and thrown into the bowels of Belle Reve Penitentiary, the Banana Splits are recruited by Amanda Waller for a secret mission: Save the Suicide Squad! What follows is quite possibly the weirdest team up ever; how will Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snorky stand up to Harley, Deadshot, Katana and Killer Croc?

Mark Russell brings his hilariously satirical style to this backup feature, where Snagglepuss is a Southern gothic playwright working with an ensemble cast of cultural figures, exploring an intensely creative time in the New York City theater scene of the 1950's.
