Tyrese Reveals He Has Had Meetings With WB About Green Lantern Role

The Green Lantern Corps movie is still a bit of a mystery, especially in regards to its casting. A recent conversation with Tyrese Gibson though revealed there have been talks to add him to the cast.

Tyrese has been attached to the Green Lantern franchise for some time thanks to a fan campaign that pitched the actor as the perfect John Stewart. Gibson revealed to Syfy Wire that he's even spoken to WB about the part.

"Yeah, I would love to do it. Ya know I had a couple of meetings at Warner about it. I just think that they're still trying to figure out what the move is. I would love to officially confirm but I can't, and if they go in a different direction, I think they know what's best for the movie, but the fans started this campaign and all I've done is made use of my social media to let folks know that I'm interested."

Early descriptions of the movie pitch it as a buddy cop film in space essentially, with Hal Jordan and John Stewart acting as the main characters. Similar to Tyrese, actor Armie Hammer has long been rumored to play Hal Jordan and has also teased it a number of times on social media.

Hopefully WB announces some concrete information soon, but in the meantime, you can find the description for their latest DCEU project Justice League below.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Amber Heard (Mera), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor).

Wonder Woman is in theaters now, and will be followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
