Earlier this year, fans learned Warner Bros. was cooking up some big plans for the Joker. The clownish villain will pair up with Harley Quinn for a second DCEU outing in the near future. And, now, Margot Robbie is opening up about the film's romantic nature. Well, kind of.

Recently, Coming Soon had a chance to chat with Robbie in London to talk about Goodbye Christopher Robin. It was there the star nodded to her DC gig, and Robbie said she felt the film would be "romantic in a messed up way."

"They're great! It's fun working with a directing duo, and I love them," Robbie explained.

"I've obviously done two films with them so I think they're just brilliant. I'm personally a sucker for a love story. In any iteration. I think people enjoy seeing two characters who, in Harley and Joker's case, would die for one another. It's kind of romantic in a messed up way."

Fans learned Warner Bros. was looking into a Harley Quinn & Joker movie back in August. The film has since landed a writer-director duo in the form of Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. The pair are best-known for working on Crazy, Stupid, Love as well as This Is Us. The Hollywood Reporter broke news about the pair's involvement less than a month ago.

So far, there are no plot details available about the film, but the DCEU flick is being described as a "criminal love story." Reports have also suggested that the spin-off will arrive after Suicide Squad 2. The sequel is said to be "on the development fast-track and out for directors," so Warner Bros. may give out new information about the sequel soon.

Robbie appears excited to dive into Harley Quinn yet again, and the star isn't the only DCEU actor ready to suit up again. Jared Leto recently admitted he was excited to return to the Joker for the couple's spin-off, so here's to hoping the actor gets enough screen time this time around. After all, the actor has said plenty of the Joker's scenes wound up being snipped from Suicide Squad.
