Internet Reacts To 'Shazam!' Costume

After a long wait fans finally have their first official look at the Shazam! costume and they seem to be openly embracing it.

The new photo shows Shazam! (played by Zachary Levi) next to Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) outside of a convenience store. The two are both drinking cans of Cola while Shazam! also has a case of it in his arm. The suit is incredibly bright an colorful, gives fans an idea of what to expect from the magic-based superhero film.

The suit is based on the New 52 version of the character, but the feel of the suit is classic through and through. That was a focus for director David F. Sandberg.

"I wanted him to feel a bit like an old-fashioned super hero from the Golden Age of comics," Sandberg wrote. "Figured it would also make him stand out from the rest."

It evidently took a few tries to get the costume just right, but Sandberg is happy with the final results, and fans seem to be as well.

"He needed to be able to bend his body," Sandberg said. "You find out that a lot of things that look cool are very impractical and it takes a couple of tries making these suits."

This suit is definitely a departure for Warner Bros. and DC's previous movies, as Wonder Woman has been the brightest of their films thus far. From the looks of it, Shazam! might be taking that title rather soon.

Shazam! is directed by David F. Sandberg from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke and stars Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as the young Billy Batson, and Mark Strong as Dr. Sivana. The film also stars Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Faithe Herman, and Ron Cephas Jones.

Can't Get Here Soon Enough

The wait for an official look at Shazam! has been a test of patience for many, but it seems the first photo has been was more than worth the wait.

Now We Need Some Context

The first photo shows Shazam! (Zachary Levi) standing next to Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) drinking some cola, and after seeing the new photo fans can't wait to see that scene in action. Who knows, maybe we'll get it at Comic-Con.

Finding Perfection

To many, this new image is just what they wanted to see from a film like Shazam!, and some fans just can't handle the perfection apparent in the image.

A Different Side Of The DCEU

DC has a reputation for going a bit darker in tone with their characters and films, and aside from Wonder Woman, it has struggled. Many see Shazam! as the perfect film to buck that trend, and can't wait to have fun at the theater watching it.

A Love For Cola

One of the big takeaways from the new photo is Shazam's apparent love for Cola, as both he and Freddy are downing a can of cola. That's not even counting the 12 pack of cans that Levi is holding in his arm.

"From the two official looks we've gotten, #Shazam sure does enjoy his beverages ? #DCFilms"

An Unexpected Change

One DC fan noticed that the suit has actually undergone one significant change since we last saw the suit in on the set photos. When you look at both images side by side, it appears the boots on the costume were changed to include more red. Personally, the new ones look better.

"They changed the boots ? #Shazam"

Better Than Expectations

Some fans didn't know what to expect when the suit was finally revealed, but it seems for the most part they are pleased with what they are seeing.

"Suit looks better than I thought it would. I can dig it #shazam "

Bringing In Brighter Colors

After the muted tones of films like Man of Steel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, many are happy to see Shazam! going in the complete other direction. In this movie, it's all about the bright colors.

Just Like The Comics

The Shazam! costume looks ripped right out of the comics and seems to be embracing the magical and fun nature of the character.

Fans are loving just how fun this movie looks. It seems the film has made a great first impression.
