Kingsman Writer On Whether She'd Pen Man Of Steel 2

Between Ben Affleck handing over director responsibilities on the upcoming Batman film and Zack Snyder having to part ways with Justice League, creative leadership in the DCEU has had its fair share of problems recently. While many might have considered Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice to be a sequel to Man of Steel, Superman had to share the screen with another icon, prohibiting the film from focusing on the Last Son of Krypton. Warner Bros. has previously announced a planned Man of Steel 2, without any production or release schedule, but Matthew Vaughn is the reported frontrunner for the gig.

Vaughn's next film, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, is making a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con, which he wrote with frequent collaborator Jane Goldman. ScreenRant spoke to Goldman about the prospect of Vaughn working on Man of Steel 2 and if she'd be interested in the project.

"I know Matthew's [Vaughn] a big Superman fan," Goldman revealed. "Would I like to…I don't know. I mean I'm not sure. I think Matthew's looking at it from a directing point of view. I have no idea what's happening there."

When asked if she'd take the opportunity to write the film, Goldman explained, "I'm not sure. There might already be a script for it. I think so…I'm not certain actually but it's complicated with a character with that kind of history."

Goldman is no stranger to the world of super heroes, having previously written X-Men: First Class, but that doesn't mean she's interested in jumping into another franchise.

"Obviously X-Men have an equally complicated [history]…but Superman feels a lot more recent," confesses Goldman. "He's been brought to life in a new iteration – he means a lot to a lot of people and maybe there are other people with more a connection with Superman…but who knows."

For those who can't wait until Man of Steel 2, you'll see Superman when he appears in Justice League.

Justice League currently has a 4.16 out of 5 on ComicBook.com's anticipation rankings, and the official description can be found below.

In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, from a screenplay by Chris Terrio, and features an ensemble cast that includes Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill(Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Amber Heard (Mera), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West) and Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor).
