Marvel TV Head Talks Suicide Squad, Marvel Vs. DC

It seems everyone has an opinion about DC Film's Suicide Squad, and if you're a critic it's a probably a negative one. So what does the rival competition take away from a superhero film as poorly received by critics as Suicide Squad? Not much, if Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb is to be believed.
"No. It's funny, we actually get asked that a lot," Loeb told The Hollywood Reporter. "The truth is, they do what they do and we do what we do. I tend to sort of think about it like I'm not sure that people that make medical shows look at other medical shows and go, 'Why is my medical show better than this?'"
Loeb, who has written comics for both Marvel and DC Comics, including fan favorite Batman stories Hush and The Long Halloween, made clear that he doesn't believe that Marvel being so successful compared to DC's cinematic struggles has anything to do with Marvel's source material being somehow innately superior to DC's.
"The DC characters which I know and I love and have had a lot of fun writing and being a part of are really strong, wonderful characters," he says. "And I think it's a little early for us to determine the success of Suicide Squad. At the moment, I'm very happy that it's opened to $150 million, that is an accomplishment. We'll see what happens afterwards."
Suicide Squad didn't actually reach the $150 million it was projected for in its opening weekend. Instead, it settled for a record-breaking $135.1 million.
