Suicide Squad is officially the most talked about movie of the summer. Twitter has announced that the upcoming Warner Bros. movie, which features Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto as some of the biggest villains in the DC Cinematic Universe, has been mentioned more times on Twitter than any other film coming out over the next three months.
According to Twitter, the movie was mentioned 1 million times between March 1st and May 26th. Helping to promote the movie on Twitter was the hashtag #JokerWasHere, which unlocked a special Joker emoji on the popular social media site. The movie's first trailer was also retweeted over 126,000 times.
Coming in second place during the same time period was the upcoming Disney/Pixar movie Finding Dory with 869,000 mentions and the new Ghostbusters movie with over 565,000 tweets. Of course, all three movies pale in comparison to Captain America: Civil War, which received over 10.4 million tweets thanks to the popular #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan hashtags. X-Men: Apocalypse was also extremely popular on Twitter, with over 1.8 million tweets over the last several months.
Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016.
