CW President Responds To Supergirl Mon-El Backlash

While fans love to see the other heroes of the Arrowverse crossover to Supergirl every now and then, they don't necessarily like other characters upstaging her on her own show.

That's how some felt with the involvement of Mon-El last season, who was rather heavily involved throughout the season. That hasn't gone unnoticed by CW President Mark Pedowitz, who defended the character at the Television Critics Association press tour (via TV Line).

During the event, Pedowitz teased that Mon-El could return at some point in season three, to which the person who asked him the question responded, "Nobody wants that."

Pedowitz smiled but disagreed, saying, "I think some people would disagree with you on that."

He expounded on that point at a later Q&A, saying, "I understand there is some backlash to [Mon-El]." He then went on to say, "I am a big fan of Chris Wood and Melissa [Benoist], and they get along great. And you know what, it's the right way to tell a story."

Mon-El departed in the season two finale, and season three will kick off moments after. It will be interesting to see how or if the show brings him back later in the season, but fans are perfectly fine with just having Supergirl on her own to start off the season.

Based on the DC Comics character, Supergirl AKA Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and become the hero who she was always meant to be on The CW series, Supergirl.

Supergirl is based on the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and appearing in DC Comics, by special arrangement with the Jerry Siegel Family.

Supergirl premieres on Monday, October 9th at 8 pm, while The Flash debuts on Tuesday, October 10 at 8 pm. Legends of Tomorrow moves to Tuesdays this Fall, airing right after The Flash on October 10. On Thursday, October 12 at 9 pm Arrow will premiere to round out the DC roster.
