Supergirl Recap With Spoilers: Myriad

At the start of the episode, Lucy Lane and the DEO free the prisoners — except the White Martian — at the order of Non.

When they free Maxima, it's quickly apparent that Lucy is under some kind of mind-control. Maxima, upset that Superman rejected her, agrees to help Non. She and Supergirl briefly battle inside the DEO, but just as Supergirl gets the upper hand, Supergirl shoots her with a Kryptonite bullet. Ultimately, Supergirl manages to stop many of the prisoners from being freed by smashing up the computer terminal after using the afterburners from her ship to knock out the mind-controlled DEO members. After removing the Kryptonite bullet, she flies to the Fortress of Solitude. She's been looking for Superman, who is nowhere to be found, and Kelex — who says Superman is off-world — refuses to talk to her about Myriad. A projection of Alura shows up to explain that Myriad was a mind-control system Astra and Non were arrested for trying to use against the people of Krypton.

Supergirl begs Alura to tell her how to stop Myriad, but Alura says once started it can't be stopped.

On a bus, two police officers come to look for Hank and Alex; they're masquerading as a mother and child, and manage to fool the police.

At CatCo, Supergirl arrives to find everyone working silently, Kryptonian code rolling across their screens. Even Winn is affected, and Kara can't reach him. She goes looking for James, finding him in his office and begging him to fight the programming.

On TV, General Lane says that National City has effectively been quarantined. Supergirl calls him, and tells him she promises she'll figure it out and save Lucy. He says he trusts her to do her part.

Cat comes into the office, not affected by Myriad. Kara gets a text from Clark, saying he's on his way, but when she goes to look out the window, Superman flies in, only to touch down on the ground, mind-controlled as well. Maxwell Lord enters, wearing a headset that apparently protects him from Myriad.

Max reveals that he figured out how to scramble the signal because the Kryptonians are using his satellites. He sent some earrings to Cat last night, which she's wearing now — and that's why she's safe. His plan is to kill all the Kryptonians.

Indigo tells Non that she wants to kill Supergirl so that they don't have to fight her later.

At the Danvers family home, Alex arrives to see a surprised Eliza. When J'Onn shifts into his Henshaw form, Eliza is furious with him, thinking he's responsible for Jeremiah's death. They explain the truth to her — or part of it, anyway — and want to supply up, but Eliza asks if they know what's going on in National City and offers to turn on the news.

Non believes that bringing the people of Earth together to save the world will save the world from Krypton's fate. Supergirl argues with him that he's betrayed Astra, but Non forces the CatCo employees first to argue with her and then to leap from the building to their deaths. Supergirl rescues Winn and James, but can't save a woman who jumped nearby. James and Winn tell her to accept defeat or die.

At the Danvers home, J'Onn looks at a family photo and makes small talk with Eliza. She asks whether J'Onn was with Jeremiah at the end of his life, and J'Onn tells her that his only thought was of Elia and the girls. She thanks him for keeping his promise to Jeremiah, and asks about his Martian heritage. As a scientist, she has a lot of questions, which amuse him.

Alex gets a call from Kara, who asks about Cadmus. She insists she's going to come to help, but Kara hangs up on her, telling her not to come or she'll be mind-controlled too.

J'Onn says he's going back, because Myriad won't affect him. He tells Alex to stay behind because her father still needs her.

Max's plan is to drop a Kryptonite bomb on the city — one which will kill all of the Kryptonians and will likely kill hundreds of thousands of people in the process. Supergirl considers his plan over Cat's objections. He demands to know whether she's with him or not.

General Lane tells Max that the President has given permission to go forward with his plan.

Supergirl asks Max what made him who he is — and he tells her that he knew what was going to happen to his parents, but nobody listened to him. He tells her that now, he rushes in just the way she does when she suits up as Supergirl.

At their hideout, Indigo tells Non that he's thinking too small and needs to be trying to conquer not the world but the universe.

At the Danvers house, Alex convinces J'Onn to let her come with him, so that his telepathy can protect her. They leave without telling Eliza about Jeremiah.

Back in National City, Cat guilts Supergirl for agreeing to go along with Max's plan. She says that her mother was faced with the same problem on Krypton and that she chose wrong. Cat tells her that everyone is letting their fear guide them, but someone has to find the courage to stand up even though she's afraid. Cat says Supergirl has inspired her, and that she has let people in because of Supergirl's influence. She says that she's learned that hope is stronger than fear — and to be herself, because that's all anyone has ever needed from her. The two hug, and Supergirl has an idea.

Elsewhere, Indigo senses J'Onn coming, and attacks him — first mentally and then physically, going after Alex and then J'Onn. There, she mocks him for being the last survivor of Mars. He phases through her, punches her to the ground, and hurls her through a building, which explodes. She reappears inside he fire, though, and stabs a long tendril from her arm into him. Heading after Alex, she tells J'Onn to stand down or she'll kill Alex. J'Onn transforms back into his natural state and then passes out. Indigo believes him to be dead, and tells Alex that with the Green Martians now extinct, humanity s next.

At Lord Technologies, Max is about to set his bomb up, when Kara and Cat come in to offer an alternative. Max doesn't want to listen — but Supergirl talks him into it, saying that he needs to honor his parents and hers by making a choice that doesn't involve indiscriminate use of force.

At the bad guy lair, Non and Indigo welcome Alex back to consciousness. He tells her that he wanted her to be awake so that he could see her suffer when his wife's killer died.

Alex tells Non that Astra lost her taste for Myriad at the end. Indigo suggests she knows how to hurt both of the Danvers girls.

At a TV station in the middle of nowhere, Cat and Max are set up to broadcast a counter signal to Myriad from an old analog signal Cat owns, when Alex shows up — mind-controlled and wearing Kryptonite armor — to challenge Kara to fight her to the death.
