The CW Has No Plans For New DC Shows This Year

He's said it before and he will likely say it again: The CW honcho Mark Pedowitz told reporters at the network's Television Critics Association presentation today that, at least for the time being, he has no plans to add to The CW's impressive slate of DC Comics adaptations.

The network currently has five returning DC-based shows as well as Black Lightning, which was ordered to series and will debut in January. Pedowitz thinks, especially with a strong incoming class of new series that includes the military drama Valor and a reboot of the beloved primetime soap Dynasty, that he's finished signing off on new super-properties for the time being.

"We have no plans to develop any DC shows this season," Pedowitz said today. "That said, I've now said this at many TCAs, and I woke up one day with Supergirl and I woke up one day with Black Lightning, so talk to me in May [about] what we have."

The sentiment echoes what he said at The CW's network upfronts last spring, just days after the network greenlit Black Lightning.

At the time, Pedowitz said that there were no new plans to make another DC show -- in addition to four (five with Black Lightning) superhero shows, the network also has iZombie -- but that the right pitch and the right circumstance could change his mind...as unlikely as it seems to actually happen.

The CW also has Riverdale, a series based on Archie Comics, on the air, and a host of DC-branded CW Seed animated shows including Vixen and the forthcoming Freedom Fighters: The Ray, and Constantine.
