Iris And Cecile Will Clash In 'The Flash'

The latest season of The Flash will be loaded with conflicts when it returns to The CW, but one will be absent of superpowers.

With her fiancé trapped in the Speed Force, Iris West will assume control of Team Flash at S.T.A.R. Labs. And though Barry Allen will return early on, she'll maintain a prominent role in the protection of Central City.

And that role might cause her to butt heads with her father's girlfriend, Central City district attorney Cecile Horton.

"They have their own interpersonal relationship drama that will go down this season," said Candice Patton, who plays Iris on the show.

The actor explained to EW that the conflict doesn't occur because of their proximity to Joe West.

"Iris really respects Cecile. I think she knows how much Cecile makes her dad happy, so in Iris' eyes, she's a welcome addition to the family," Patton said. "You'll just have to wait and see how that whole thing between them plays out."

It sounds like it will have something to do with both of efforts in protecting Central City.

Cecile is already in a tough spot being the district attorney. She knows the Flash's true identity, and Barry is a forensic detective for the police department. That information going public could ruin her career, being that she helped a vigilante.

And Iris is determined to do the right thing, willing to do whatever it takes to help people in need. All it takes is some clever writing to put the two characters at odds, and forcing Joe into a tough spot as he's forced to deal with two of the most important people in his life going against each other.

The Flash Season Four premieres Tuesday, October 10 on The CW.
