WATCH The Flash Season 3 Sizzle Reel

"How does a hero stop a villain who when that hero IS the villain?" Such is the question now looming over the final stretch of The Flash season 3's story arc, now that we know that nefarious "Speed God" Savitar is actually a future version of Barry Allen.

As you can see in the new Flash season 3 sizzle reel above, Barry's quest to stop Savitar from (eventually) killing Iris has hit the wall of a major conundrum: If Barry can't stop Savitar, Iris dies; If Barry destroys Savitar, he becomes Savitar, and Iris dies.

The answer (as always) has been trapping Savitar in the Speed Force, but as we can see, getting scientist Tracy Brand (guest star Anne Dudek) to complete her future breakthrough sooner isn't going to be easy. It seems that team Flash will be pulling some kind of heist (with help from Captain Cold), and Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) seems to be straddling both sides of the line. If nothing else, the sizzle reel clearly indicates that "Evil Barry/Savitar" is going to have more scenes and presence than some fans may have expected. Hopefully it works well for the show, and doesn't become another meme-worthy story development.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
