The Flash: Tom Cavanagh Teases Season 4's Harrison Wells

Tom Cavanagh's turn as Harrison Wells - or really, several different iterations of the character - has grown to be one of the highlights of The Flash. But when it comes to the version of Wells that fans will see in The Flash's upcoming fourth season, Cavanagh says that several options are on the table.

As Cavanagh recently explained in an interview with CBR, the version of Wells in Season 4 could easily expand beyond Harry, the Earth-2 iteration who offered to stay with Team Flash after the events of the Season 3 finale.

"We're going to start with Harry." Cavanagh revealed. "And then find a way, I think, to try and get a different version of Wells in there, be it some version of Harry or whatnot, as the season's gaps present themselves."

According to Cavanagh, the decision of which Wells will appear in particular season of The Flash - from Harry to Season 3's dearly-departed HR - depends on the season's overall tone.

"In Season 2, it was like, 'Maybe if we had a jackass who has no social skills and is abrasive.' And then that was Harry." Cavanagh explained. "And then in Season 3, we had a lot of darker storylines. So like, 'Maybe we add a little more humor' and that was HR. And so this year, we've had a different villain, [Clifford DeVoe/The Thinker], and so I think there's going to be areas that we could use a different Wells."

Beyond that, Cavanagh was relatively mum on the details of who that different Wells could be - and when exactly in the season he would appear.

"There is stuff that's involved with this season, that we're talking about, [about] how Wells might become a different version of Wells. But I think that's a storyline too far from me to give up, but you'll see it!"

The Flash returns for its fourth season on the CW on Oct 10, 2017.

Running up against an evil time remnant version of yourself is something no one should ever have to do, but that's exactly what faced Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he fought to save the life of fiancée Iris West from the God of Speed known as Savitar. Barry's victory was short-lived, however, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell.
