Wentworth Miller Talks Captain Cold Returning To Legends Of Tomorrow

The Legends of Tomorrow will have their hands full during the second half of the season thanks to the incoming Legion of Doom. The icing on the cake? The fact that the Legion includes former teammate and friend Captain Cold.

Leonard Snart actor Wentworth Miller spoke to EW about the returning character, and what fans can expect from this version. Snart was last seen by the Legends in season 1 after he sacrificed himself to save them. This version of Snart is from an earlier time and will be much less heroic in nature.

"My sense is that if Snart comes back into the storyline via his present day incarnation, then he's a straight up villain. He hasn't gone on that first season Legends of Tomorrow journey yet, so when we meet him again — quote unquote alive in 2017 — I imagine that he's going to be much like when we first met him the first season on The Flash, which I'm looking forward to, because it means I get to arc to a completely different place."

When Snart initially joined the Legends, he was accompanied by Mick Rory, more commonly known as Heat Wave (played by Dominic Purcell). Their story arc will be somewhat reversed this time around when the two meet again. When asked how Snart will react to seeing Mick in a more heroic role, he said "I think he'd be disappointed. I also think some of that disappointment would steam from being triggered by watching his former buddy, a hard criminal, show a softer, more heroic side, because that might mean to Snart that he, too, is capable of showing a softer, more heroic side. I'm looking forward to their interaction for sure."

As for his reaction to White Canary (Caity Lotz), who he shared a brief kiss with before he died, Miller says "I'm also looking forward very much to whatever the writers have in store as far as Snart and White Canary," Miller says. "There was a kiss, remembered by White Canary, but not Snart."

When he was asked how the character will deal with the rest of this villainous team Miller said "What I can tell you is that Snart is not used to taking orders," Miller says. "He's not a team player. That was certainly his story the first season on Legends, so I expect fireworks. I look forward to it."

LOST MEMORIES — When Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) try to capture Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in 1967, they create an Aberration big enough to draw the attention of the Legends. However, when the team arrives they discover that Rip has no memories of his past due to "time drift" and is just a graduate film student.

After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Ray (Bradon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) realize that the Aberration has also affected them personally making it difficult to help the team. Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team.

Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Chris Fedak.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow moves from its usual Thursday timeslot to Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT when new episodes resume later this month. "Raiders of the Lost Art" debuts on January 24, 2017.
