'Wonder Woman' Sequel Hires 'The Expendables' Writer

Wonder Woman 2 is gaining traction as Warner Bros. A new report by The Hollywood Reporter just confirmed Dave Callaham has been brought on to help co-write the sequel.

According to THR, Callaham will step in to help Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns tackle the Wonder Woman sequel. Audiences will know the writer from his work on The Expendables has he helped co-write the feature.

Callaham's hire comes shortly after news about Jenkins' return to Wonder Woman went public. The director closed a deal with Warner Bros. to direct the sequel after the first movie made over $800 million at the global box office. Jenkins will direct, produce, and co-write Wonder Woman 2.

If the reports are true, Wonder Woman 2 has been in the works for awhile now. Jenkins and Johns are said to "have been working on a treatment for several months" already. Warner Bros. will now bring in Callaham to help refine the duo's ideas.

For those concerned Callaham's hire was done to marginalize work by Jenkins or Johns, don't worry. THR reports the writer was brought in by Jenkins and that the pair already have a strong working relationship. Jenkins has worked with Callaham as the duo teamed up for Jackpot, a film adaptation of Jo Nesbo's titular novel.

There's little information out there about the storyline of Wonder Woman 2, but rumors are circulating about the sequel. ScreenRant posted a piece earlier this summer which detailed information its sources had relayed about the script. The site reported Wonder Woman 2 is slated to be another historical adventure as it takes place during the Cold War. The report also suggested Steve Trevor will return in the sequel, so Chris Pine may make a return to the DC Extended Universe despite his character's apparent death.

Wonder Woman has an 86.52 ComicBook.com Composite Score and a 4.33 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Rating, making it the fourth-highest ranked comic book movie of all time among ComicBook.com readers.
