Wonder Woman Tops EW's Powerful & Influential Superhero List

A list of superheroes is so subjective that it can often result in heated debates, and all comic fans have taken part in one of these spirited discussions at one point or another. With so many options to choose from, it can be hard to find an average, but odds are Wonder Woman would be somewhere in the top percentile.

For Entertainment Weekly's latest listing of the 50 most powerful and influential superheroes, the Amazon warrior has taken the top spot, and that isn't just among DC heroes, but all heroes, including heavyweights like Spider-Man, Superman, Hellboy, Thor, and the list goes on.

The group at EW put together a 100 point system to rate each hero in nine different categories, which consisted of cultural impact, bankability, design, modern relevance, mythology, nemeses, originality, personality, and powers. They could score a total of 10 points in each one save for cultural impact, which was graded heavier than the others at 20 possible points.

They narrowed down the pool of choices to 150, and then scored each of those on their own until they got to the top 50, and Wonder Woman was highest on the list. It's easy to see why, as the character contains a warrior spirit with a compassionate heart, is relatable yet intriguing, and can stand toe to toe with just about any hero in her universe or any other.

You can find the full list in EW's latest issue, which hits newsstands this Friday. You can also view the new artwork from superstar artist Alex Ross in the gallery.

Wonder Woman debuts in theaters on June 2, 2017.
