Academy Member Says Guardians Of The Galaxy Should Have Been Nominated For Best Picture

In a new piece at The Hollywood Reporter, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences shared the details of her Oscar ballot -- as well as complaining about industry and press professionals who called the Academy out for snubs -- yesterday.
Among her many grievances? Guardians of the Galaxy didn't get enough respect.
"I was happy to have the chance to vote for Guardians of the Galaxy," the anonymous Academy voter said in her comments about the Best Makeup & Hairstyling category. "It could have and should have been nominated for best picture; I nominated it."
The voter, who said she abstained in a number of categories where she either hadn't seen enough of the films or didn't think her expertise was relevant, decided against that course of action when voting for Guardians in the visual effects category.
"I don't think I should be able to vote for this category either, but I can't resist another opportunity to support Guardians of the Galaxy," she said. "It should get something."
