Chadwick Boseman Says Black Panther Has Considerable Role In Avengers: Infinity War

07/24/2017 05:03 pm EDT

Chadwick Boseman made a splash as T'Challa the Black Panther when he made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: Civil War, but 2017 has been an even busier year for the star.

Boseman will star in the Black Panther movie opening in February 2018. After that, the Black Panther will return in May 2018 for Avengers: Infinity War. The third Avengers movie has a sizable ensemble cast, but Boseman says Black Panther's is no small role.

"It's considerable, it's considerable," Boseman tells ComicBook.com at Comic-Con International: San Diego. "He's an important factor in Infinity War.

With the reveal of the Black Order and the Outriders at D23 Expo, Avengers: Infinity War seems more and more to be inspired by the Marvel Comics event Infinity. Black Panther was a major player in that story and Wakanda was specifically targeted by Thanos' forces. This all sounds like the making of a major subplot for Black Panther in Avengers: Infinity.

Of course, filming two blockbuster movies in one year is no small feat either.

"You know, the two experiences, they sort of just blend into each other because we were shooting both of them in the same city," Boseman says.
"Literally, I went from one to the other, so I didn't really have a break between the two. So it's almost like a shot one film. That's what it felt like."

Avengers: Infinity War is said to be the longest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie so far. Adding Black Panther to that sounds like a mini marathon just to watch, nevermind to film.
