Baby Groot Takes On Mini Dinos In New Guardians TV Spot

It's that time of the marketing schedule where Marvel starts to push out more and more television spots promoting their latest upcoming movie. We're just under three weeks from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting the silver screen and the marketing for the movie is in full effect.

In the latest TV spot, which happens to feature Baby Groot, we see the toddler tree throw only what we can guess is a tree tantrum as he can be seen fighting the same Ravager we've seen in previous trailer footage. The spot does include a quick tidbit of new footage, with Groot taking on a pair of miniature dinosaur-like creatures before being scolded by Rocket Raccoon.

Only 14-seconds long, the little new footage we did see sheds some light on the dynamic shift we'll see between Groot and Rocket and how different their roles will be in the second film as compared to the original Guardians of the Galaxy. While Groot was described as Rocket's muscle in the first film, Rocket looks to serve as the caretaker as Groot grows back into his adult self throughout this film and any potential Guardians projects.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits on May 5, 2017.
