Black Panther Filming Date Revealed

Next month, the new year will welcome itself and bring with it a ton of new entertainment news. Studios like Marvel are gearing up for the next year of blockbusters as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming will be hitting theaters. Marvel Studios will also be laying the groundwork for future films like Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther when 2017 rolls around. And, now, fans have learned the exact date that the latter will be heading into production.

According to On Location Vacations, Black Panther is set to kick-off production in Atlanta, GA on January 15, 2017. The superhero flick will use Pinewood Atlanta Studios as its hangout while filming is underway.

Of course, fans already knew Black Panther would be getting into production towards the new year's start. Not long ago, new broke which said the film would begin production in January, but now fans have an exact date to look forward to. The production schedule was tipped off to fans when a casting call for extra apparently spilled the secret. According to Tammy Smith Casting, Black Panther was looking for drummers, MMA-style fighters, and extras with tactical weapons experience.

If you are wondering what Black Panther will be about, then you'll have to seek out word-of-mouth synopses. Marvel Studio has yet to release any description of the film, but one of its stars has spoken about Black Panther. Lupita N'yongo, who will play Nakia, gave fans a short synopsis: "The story of this Black Panther - what I am allowed to say - is that Black Panther's leadership has been threatened by two foes who come together, and so Black Panther gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy."

For now, there aren't any confirmed details about Black Panther and its storyline floating around, but fans already know plenty about the superhero. The character is one of Marvel's most famous icons and acts as the ruler of the once-isolated country of Wakanda. The technologically advanced nation is ruled by the Black Panther who serves as its king and protector. In the comics, Black Panther seeks out the aid of the Avengers after Wakanda is threatened with invasion, and he eventually joins in on their missions from time to time.

Directed by Ryan Coogler ("Fruitvale Station," "Creed"), "Black Panther" stars Chadwick Boseman in the title role alongside Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, and Florence Kasumba. The film arrives in theaters on February 16, 2018.

Doctor Strange is now in theaters; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 – May 5, 2017; Spider-Man: Homecoming– July 7, 2017; Thor: Ragnarok – November 3, 2017; Black Panther – February 16, 2018; Avengers: Infinity War – May 4, 2018; Ant-Man and the Wasp – July 6, 2018; and Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.

Black Panther will slash into theaters on February 16, 2018.
