Captain America: Civil War Passes $800 Million At Worldwide Box Office
05/14/2016 12:25 pm EDT
Captain America: Civil War reached another box office milestone last week, passing the $800 million at the worldwide box office. The movie broke the barrier after making $19.44 million on Friday, bringing its total to $807.7 million. Civil War is now the third highest grossing movie for 2016, behind only Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zootopia. The Marvel movie is projected to beat both movies in worldwide box office, possibly as soon as this weekend.
Despite the milestone, Captain America: Civil War wasn't able to buck the trend of a major second Friday drop. It's $19.44 million haul was a 74.1% drop from last Friday, which is in line with other major blockbusters lately.
Captain America: Civil War is projected to make over $70 million this weekend, making it only the seventh movie ever to have a $70+ million second weekend.
Captain America: Civil War is in theaters now.
